on the afternoon of january 16, njupt held the international students’ graduation ceremony and master's degree conferment of the year 2017 in the report hall of the administration building on xianlin campus. njupt president professor yang zhen, vice president professor jiang guoping and professor zhang zhihua attended the ceremony. the persons in charge from the president's office, the graduate school, school of overseas education, school of telecommunications and information engineering and school of management participated in the ceremony, along with the representatives of graduate students’ supervisors and faculties. the presence also included international students’ representatives as well as all graduates for today. njupt vice president professor zhang zhihua, presided at the graduation ceremony and degree conferment.
the ceremony unveiled as china’s national anthem began. professor jiang guoping, vice president of njupt, dean of the graduate school and vice president of the degree evaluation committee of njupt read off the degree-conferring decision for all international candidates of master's degree in the year of 2017. darlaine shemeza and other three students were conferred master’s degree of engineering; huguette iradukunda and other eight students were awarded the master’s degree of management.
njupt president professor yang zhen delivered the speech. he extended heartfelt congratulations, on behalf of the university, to all the graduate students who have satisfactorily completed their studies and been conferred master’s degree. he pointed out that cultivating full-time international students was a significant breakthrough in our attempt to be in line with the internationalization, that the successful graduation of the students should owe to continuous efforts paid by everyone in njupt. next professor yang congratulated students on their growth and success achieved in the university. during those 2 years, he addressed, that they had completely integrated into college life here and became a real njupter, and graduates would change from students in njupt to alumni of njupt. he expressed his wishes of the graduates’ bearing in mind the school motto morality, persistence, practicality and sincerity wherever they are and becoming the synonym of njupt’s internationalization as well as the envoy of international cultural exchange, who devote themselves to getting more and more people know about china and njupt.
professor zhu weiwei, vice dean of the school of management, made an address as the representative of the international students’ supervisors and teachers. he recalled some memorable scenes where he discussed with his students in class and during the guided thesis writing, and hoped that they would stay true to their original objective, hold the spirit of “truth-seeking, dedication, innovation and modesty”, that never be power-oriented and profit-oriented, but instead, be simple, kind, earnest, and persistent. he also conveyed wishes that they could cherish the kinship and friendship, regard njupt as their mother school as well as their home in china, remember to keep in touch with each other, support each other and go hand in hand to build a splendid future.
one of the graduates, fanny, on behalf of all the international graduate students of the year 2017, gave her speech. she said that njupt has presented them with rigorous academic atmosphere, and made them who they are today, that they will adhere to the heart of the most real dream, carry all the gratitude and best wishes with them, no matter where they are, and move on. a thousand words merges into one sentence: to cherish mother school, love china, memorize teacher’s kindness and schoolmate’s friendship.
with the beautiful song jasmine flower playing, president yang, vice president jiang and vice president zhang poked fringe and awarded the certificates for international students who were granted the master’s degree, and they joined to take group photos with the graduates.
